One more Christmas gift done (stash report and list too!)

I haven't reported for two weeks. As my Dad would say my back and neck were "stove up" and I jsut didn't get much done. Terri got me interested in making some sets of coasters for gifts. It's taken me all week but I finally got one set done. This one is for one of my SILs (no, Carol, you get somethign else!). JJ doesn't read the blog so I can post it.

This is a fun project and uses quite a bot of fabric. I've got a larger bowl in process. It will probably take all week to finish!

Between this set and the bowl, I've cut about a yard of fabric so I'll go ahead and count that as out.

Stash Report and List

I haven't reported for two weeks – mostly because I didn't have much to report last week.

This week I finished 2 sets of postcards (1 yard each), the Christmas quilt (6 yards for the front, 6 yards for the back and pillowcase body and ½ yard for the pillowcase trim). Saturday Kim and I went shopping to Quilting Adventures. I bought 2 yards of medium gray to use as photo backgrounds and 4 yards to overdye. The gray is already in use and the other will be added after it's dyed.

I think this is about as far as I will get to my goal for the year. I don't expect that I will complete any more large projects. I'll take 85 yards though, that's pretty good!

Stash report and list

I am very excited to report that I completed the Citrus quilt about 10 minutes ago! I will do a post with photos of the quilt tomorrow but I just had to get it into my stash report - especially since I will not be here to post a report next Sunday.

I used 13.5 yards on this quilt and didn't add to the stash at all this week. I may not make my goal of 100 yards but I have one more quilt to get done that will get me at least 10 or 12 yards closer.

A finish and a start

 During two evening this week I finished the quilting on this one! I did the binding today. This is the companion quilt to the one that Mom made. It's from the Judy Hooworth book Quilts on the Double. When you cut the fabrics and sew strips you are cutting and sewing for two quilts. It's a cool technique and I'd like to do another. I quilted both of them identical - Woodgrain panto using YLI Variations thread in the color Teddy on top and So Fine in the bobbin.  

I don't have a specific purpose for this one. I think I may keep it to have for a future gift. It would be a nice gift for a man. For now it's getting the lazy label - a Sharpie pen signature.

  I also loaded the citrus quilt and will get started on it this week. I'm quilting this one using a flannel sheet as batting. I want it to be a lighter summer quilt. I'll let you know how the flannel sheet works!

Sunday was not a day of rest

but it was good anyway!

What a nice productive day! I did 5 loads of laundry and made 2 batches of soap before Anne arrived. Chris returned from his hunting trip to Nebraska Friday so he made fresh pheasant pot pie for us for lunch with apple pie for dessert. We love it when he fixes the "all pie" meal! Kim came over to show us a cool new quilt that she designed. I think she's going to share the pattern. It's really simple and really, really cool. Anne was here so I could help her with a quilt project.

I also got this quilt loaded on Willie:

 

and I made 10 more of my mini log cabin blocks. I only have 42 (our of 382) left to make!!!!

 

and Anne brought me these great fabrics. You might remember that I was drooling over them a couple of weeks ago. Isn't she a good friend?

 

No, they don't count in the stash! In fact I don't have any stash activity to report. I need to finish that quilt I loaded to get some more stash action.
