So, the happiest season of the year is here. Football season is about to start! I will spend an inordinate amount of time in front of the TV over the next few months. I need to make that time productive so I need a hand sewing project.
Normally I’d just start something new but that UFO list that I’m keeping each month is there reminding me to stop starting new projects. I perused it and decided it was time to finish one of my oldest UFO project.
Yep, I made the tactical error of thinking that I wanted a Cathedral Window quilt. It was actually a good project to have when I was traveling so much for work in the early 00’s. I actually introduced it on the blog in 2007 but never took another stitch. I am determined to finish it this year. You can read that post to get the background on the quilt.
Let’s assess where we are. The section that’s together is about 68” square right now and I could just finish the edges and call it done. But I have this new section about half done. I made sections like this to make it a very mobile project.
Can you tell that I’ve made it an I-Spy quilt? What the hell was I thinking? I do know that there are no duplicates in the quilt. But so what. What was I planning to do with an I-Spy Cathedral Window quilt?
You can see from this note that I intended the quilt to be about 80 x 80. That would involve 3 more strips that are 2-blocks wide. I really don't have the patience for that. I’m going to finish off the section that’s in process. Once I add it the quilt will be about 68 x 76 and that is going to be good enough!
Boy, it sure will be nice to call this thing done and get it off the UFO list. I’ve put too much work in it to not finish it. I’m counting on football season to get me through. Maybe this will be my Monday post through the season.
