This quilt isn’t ugly at all but I’ve been calling it the ugly quilt ever since I started it and wasn’t sure that it was going to work out. I might change the name to the “Not So Ugly Quilt”.
Whatever I call it I am really having fun quilting it. I finished all the dark areas this weekend and started on the bright areas. I tried a variegated thread and didn’t like it so I switched to a solid dark orange. It's much better. I decided in a fern motif for the quilting. I was going to do feathers but I don't think feathers were a good fit for the fabrics in this quilt. Fern fronds are much better.
I especially love the orange thread on the back.
There are 16 pinwheel blocks in the center and this is what I’m doing on each blade.
Here’s the first of the 16 pinwheels.
Ahhhhhhh, from the back. Love it.
I always love a side lit photo to show off the texture. I’m looking forward to finishing the quilting on this one this week. I think it’s possible for this to be a February finish. Guess I need to get working on a Zentangle label.
