Before I left for Newport News Thursday I got the next quilt loaded on the frame. I made this quilt in 2014 as part of the HSTeria Quilt Along. All along I called it “The Ugly Quilt” and since I'm making it for my own bed it night keep that name. You can see a full view of it here.
The backing is a hand dyed black and I got black Quilter’s Dream Blend for the batting.
I’ve decided to use shiny polyester threads on it and will try to use some of my stash of Rainbows and Highlights. This dark variegated is what I chose for the dark areas.
I’m looking at oranges and golds for the “main” blocks. I’m quilting the darks first so I can wait a while for a final decision here.
When I got back from Newport News Sunday I started quilting using a continuous curves motif. I pressed all of the seams open so no SID in this one. I also want it to go reasonably fast and CC is the best way to do that without doing an all over design. I don’t think this will be a February finish but there’s no reason it can’t be done for March.
Here’s a shot of the back with that perfect Innova tension. This machine makes me so happy.
