I needed 3 quilt labels for all of the recent finished quilts. Here’s the third one for my Shaken, Not Stirred quilt.
With the other 2 quilts I had inspiration from the front of the quilt to guide me on the label. I didn’t have that with this one. I just couldn’t come up with anything that really moved me. Instead I decided in a “simple” frame. I say simple because it looks simple. I put it in quotations because it was anything but simple! It took me a while to get the frame structure (a wavy line in pencil) to look right. Once that was done the drawing was reasonably simple.
Before you get any ideas that it was an original design let me set that straight. The design was taken straight from this book, Pattern Play. This book has been a great purchase for me. The author takes you through some basic patterns and then shows you how to build on it and then challenges you to take it even further. She has some beautiful Zentangle examples throughout the book. You can see my border design right there in the cover.
If you are thinking about giving Zentangle art a try this is another really good book. One Zentangle A Day really starts at the beginning and walks you through traditional Zentangle designs in a 6-week course. By the end you have a really great grasp on the art of Zentangle.
