It’s the last Friday of the month so it’s time again to check in on our series projects!
Each month I try to explore why other artists work in series. The website The Abundant Artist has a great article about 18 months ago about artists working in a series. They talk to several artists and also give some advice on how to develop a series. Check it out here.
This month I have developed an actual project using my shibori! First I’ll share my samples for the month.
I’m enjoying playing with my new clamps and will probably focus on some larger pieces in August using the clamps. So far I’ve stuck primarily to my 10” squares.
I love these stitched hearts!
Another clamped piece. This was folded in squares and clamped with triangle shapes.
This one is the most complex piece for this month. First I stitched each of the 20 squares and drew up the stitching. The I gathered the center point if each square and wrapped it.
Here’s my new project! I decided to see if I could design a Christmas postcard and this is what I came up with. I’ll be stitching a bunch of these in August. I’m not sure what color I’ll dye them but I can see a little stitching and some crystals for some cute Christmas cards.
Are you working in, or thinking about working in a series? If so blog about it and link up below or add a comment to the post telling us about it!
