It's a pretty red dish.....if you are into red like I am. With all of the bad luck I've been having slumping bottles it's nice to have a success with glass that was actually made to be fused!
This dish is about 5" x 10" and is made from 3 different glasses. The strip in the center is a special glass made from blending multiple colors of molten glass. I edged that in a transparent ruby pink. The sides of the glass are a beautiful dark red.
It will look different depending on what surface it's put on. I think it would be beautiful on a white bathroom counter so that the pink will really stand out. On a dark surface the pink doesn't stand out as much.
Just to show you how hard it is to pick colors sometime, here's how it looked before firing. The pink is a "striker" glass meaning that it changes color dramatically in the kiln.
Next week I may be ready to share the story of my adventures in bottle slumping!
