In the middle of making Christmas postcards I realized that needed some birthday cards for December birthdays. There was a moment of panic and then I saw a stack of screen prints that I had already fused to cards.
Could I save them?
I don't know what I was thinking when I screen printed these with metallic ink. The screen is Pods by Terri Stegmiller. The problem isn't the image, it's the ink. There just isn't enough contrast. After I screened a few of these I switched to black ink and got much better images. But I just had to try to fix these.
Black thread was the answer!
I stitched the black screened images too.
The funny thing is that once they were don I liked the "failures" the best! Just goes to show that you shouldn't give up too quickly. Sometimes mistakes (or bad decisions) turn out the best!
Here's the whole set. I painted the color in the pods. I love the hand dyed background fabrics. These only took a few hours and now my December birthdays are taken care of!
