I have 2 birthdays in December that I need to make cards for. It's always a challenge to come up with something that doesn't scream Christmas but this December I outdid myself!
Anne's birthday is December 5 and Carol's is December 23 (I'm almost always late with hers because I forget to mail it). The base of this card is some of the fabric that Anne and I made in our early dyeing days. It was stenciled with some hearts. The skull is from the card that Anne gave me for my birthday. The skull was laser cut into the card so I thought it might make a good stencil.
It took a bit of practice with the paint to get the right amount of paint on the right implement and the right amount of pressure to get it to work without having paint blobs. I added the crystals as my hat tip to the holidays.
The sad thing is that Anne's never arrived. Apparently someone at her post office liked it a lot. I'll have to make her another one. It makes me wonder how many of my 80 Christmas cards do not make it to their destinations.
