Did you check out all of the great tool ideas from last week's post? I got some great ideas that I'll be adding to my own cluttered spaces. The winner from that post is #23 Red Orange Wolff! She wins the quilt glass sun catcher that I shared last Saturday.
This week we are going to share our favorite storage solution for our studio. It can be anything. It can be where you store fabric, tools, notions, magazines, idea files.....whatever! Just link up your post below. I'll draw a number form the entries for another glass sun catcher.
Then get ready for next week when we will have the grand finale and show our studios!
Here's my storage solution.
In 2012 we decided to get rid of a big TV cabinet. TV cabinets are pretty useless to give away so I decided to try to take it apart and salvage any usable parts. We used the top to make a new sewing table with a recessed cutout for my machine. The tutorial for that project is here.
There was a stereo section with almost square shelves and I decided to use one of them to top off this plastic drawer set. These drawer sets are really inexpensive and being on wheels makes it very versatile. Having a flat top is even better!
I measured the width and depth of the drawer set and created a frame on the underside of the shelf so that the shelf will sit stable on the drawers. I used shelf supports from the TV cabinet for the frame parts. I even reused the screws from the TV cabinet.
Instead of just some drawers I now have this extra little table that I can roll wherever I need it. Most often I roll it right up next to the sewing table to create a "L" surface when I'm working on a big quilt. Or I use it to stage block parts when I'm piecing. The rest of the time I can roll it out of the way into a nook nearby.
Now, tell us about your favorite storage method or tool. Link up your blog post or photo below. The link box will be open through Thursday. I'll pick a winner next Friday when we all share our REAL sewing studios.
