When you work at home it's really hard to "take a week off" but I mostly did just that last week and it was very nice. It's a little hard to get back in the routine but it was great to have a week to do things out of schedule, things not on the schedule or nothing at all.
Before I catch up on what I'm doing I want to thank my Secret Santa. I received this beautiful handmade ornament in the mail Christmas Eve. I don't know who sent it so I'll just offer a giant thank you right here!
Mom and I have had a big "Sew Storm" the past 3 days. When I make the kits for Judy's mystery projects I like to get my quilt made early just to confirm that I have more than enough fabric in the kits.
We didn't finish our quilts but got far enough along to know that you can make a big mistake in cutting and still have plenty of fabric. This basket has all of my scraps and you can see that many of them are uniform in shape. That's because I cut all of the pieces for a border wrong!
They aren't going to waste though. I'm using them for leaders and enders. They will wind up in some other project eventually.
Before the Sew Storm started I got about half of Back To Square One quilted and will get back on schedule with that this week.
Miracle of miracles the cutting table is clear! Don't let this fool you. Mom and I cleared up our quilt projects for now and will get back to them in a couple of weeks. The rest of the room is a disaster. All of my spaces need some serious purging and organizing and I'm planning to get to that this month. But today is about getting back into my routine, making some lists and getting organized for the week.
I hope you had a great holiday. Do you make New Year's resolutions? I don't. I make resolutions/start new projects/change habits when the time seems right. I am starting a couple of new projects on January 1 but that's because that's when the sponsors are starting them. Otherwise it's just another Wednesday so I'll be dyeing and what's not to like about that!
I'm really grateful for Judy hosting Design Wall Monday and am glad she will continue it in the new year. It's a great way for me to think through and plan my week. Check out what everyone else is doing at Patchwork Times.
