When I'm dyeing there's always little cups of dye left over and there's usually a bottle of one or more colors where the dye is past the expiration date. It's still good dye but it might not dye as dark as I expect. I hate wasting dye so I either use it on some fabric or pull out something from my stash of tshirts or clothes.
I've been haveing a lot of fun lately with my leftover dyes.
Sometimes I have these bolt ends that are too small for shop fabric. I dyed these for some great texture pieces in my own stash.
These are some muslin waste pieces that I use when dyeing gradients. I have a big stash of these and I hoard them like they are going to taken by gremlins.
Recently JJill had my favorite shirts and shorts on sale. I bought white versions of course. These shirts aren't supposed to match these particular shorts. They are just the dyed that I had that day. I thought the shirts needed something else so I did some screen printing on them.
I love these bird screens that I got from Terri Stegmiller. She has the cutest designs and I want all of them.
These are shirts that I dye with the last of the leftover dyes. I keep a stash of white tshirts around for these. It's always easy to find someone to take them.
I screened this skull on it and left the shirt at Anne's river house to thank her for letting me use the house for the weekend. You think that image might a little too subdued?
Let me turn the lights off.
I couldn't resist glow in the dark screen ink!
Aren't leftover dyes fun?
