I finally got back to the longarm yesterday and got another row done.
I only have about 3 more wide rows of feathers and this one will be done! It's a gigantic quilt so I'm glad that I'm going to to a machine sewn binding.
There was a time a few years ago when I would have ripped these stitches out. But when I started this quilt I promised myself that I would not do that. Once this thing is washed and dried you would have difficulty finding these mistakes. Besides it's for the guest house and will be washed often so I wasn't going to sweat the quilting.
That said, in general, my feathers continue to improve. These long feathers are hard for me to back track on and as the quilt has progressed I've gotten better. I'll be glad to be done with the feathers though. I have such a death grip on the machine that my hands cramp up. I am trying my best to loosen up my grip and maybe I need to have a little drink before each quilting session.
My goals for the weekend are to finish this quilt, start binding it and get another quilt loaded on Willie. I was going to do the guest room quilt next but I needed to order a king size batting for it. So I'll load one of my mystery quilt samples and get it quilted up quickly (hopefully) before the batting arrives.
In other news, look who is finally home! My Illuminated Blocks quilt is back from it's US tour. Unfortunately I have to turn it over to Estelle tomorrow for the Country School quilt exhibit in September.
I'll be ironing a lot of fabric tomorrow. What will you be doing this weekend?
