This has been a week of chores so far. I haven't had much sewing time. I've been out shopping twice which is really unusual for me. The PC that I use to print invoices and postage died. After paying someone $125 to tell us that it was dead (will not connect to the internet), I had to go shopping for a replacement. It also serves as a backup if my main computer dies (or is out for 2 days having the fan replaced). If you live in the Richmond, VA area I highly recommend House Call Computer Service. I found them on Angie's List and am really happy with them.
I bought a new computer Tuesday, brought it home worked on it for about a hour and quickly found out it had some serious problems. (It's important to buy computers from places with return policies - thank you Staples). I took that one back yesterday and headed to Costco where I found a small laptop for less than $500 that is going to work great. Costco has a 90 day return policy. It doesn't get better than that.
I really hate shopping for electronics. Nothing makes me fee more ignorant.
I've been spending most of the rest of my time getting the new fabric palette ready to roll out tomorrow. But I have made sure to spend an hour or more each day working on my challenge wall hanging.
I have finished all of the straight line quilting in the blocks. I'm using a metallic in the dark areas and will use that on the border too. It's amazing how many piecing problems can be resolved with some dense quilting.
I've started the fill quilting in the leaf prints. One down, two to go. Although my quilting looks nothing like hers, I usually go to Leah Day's site for inspiration for fill quilting. I am so glad that we don't often have challenges in my quilt club. I tend to get carried away with them.
This is what happened the last time. I spent 120 hours on that little 12" square piece. I am not getting out the beads for this new one. I promise myself that I am going to finish quilting it and then bind it and call it done. What a lot of work for something that's going to be used to cover a power box panel in the guest house!
Today we switched from computer repair to appliance repair. I guess the washing machine was jealous of the computers.
