I love the look of this block but it is nothing by "Y" seams. This is one time that practice really helps. By the time I made the second block my results were much better and the block went together easier. In both cases I was able to steam the block into submission.
You may not like the fabric for the shibori block but once I saw the elements of the block I though that this particular shibori fabric with a wood grain look was a perfect paring.
The templates.
The fabrics.
You can get directions for making this block on Barbara Brackman's blog and you can see the other blocks in the Flickr group.

Vicki,
Love both of them! I am not usually very impressed with the shibori block but this one is lovely, and the other one is a stunning use of fabric.

I cannot wait to see the quilt you make with these blocks. How big is each block? It's definitely going to be interesting to quilt :-)

The symmetry block is fabulous! I did Spinning Star for a friendship block exchange a few years back. Twenty-eight blocks in different fabrics, all Y seams! Whew!
