The Pendleton Fabric Palette was inspired by an American Indian blanket made by the Pendleton Woollen Company. The blanket that inspired me was in this book. Not only do I love the color palettes in the book but I also loved the patterns in the blankets. Today I decided to make a block inspired by one of the blanket patterns.
If you are interested in the fabrics in the palette you can get all of the information here.
Here's the block I designed. I fully recognize that this block would be a total pain to make but if you make it 24" square it would not take so long to make enough blocks for a quilt. Here are the quilts that I came up with. I added horizontal sashing to some for an added design element like many of the blankets in the book.
In this one I rotated alternating blocks.

I think you have designed a great block; very native american. Only the middle bit looks tricky to piece but could be handled with the 'sew a square on the diagonal, fold in half on the sewn line and cut away the underneath bit'. Hope that makes sense.

really love this block you designed it's wonderful. I think it would be well worth the effort of making, the quilts you have come up with are great, particularly love the first 2 colourways

Beautiful! I've wanted to make a quilt inspired by Indian blankets for a long, long time. Maybe someday.
