We aren't much for celebrating the New Year so, for us the holidays are over and I'm happy about it. I got a monster cold on Christmas Eve. While we don't do a lot for Christmas we do have a few events and I missed all of them! Chris went to an open house Christmas Day and there were 3 other solo spouses there so the cold made the rounds in this area for sure. At least it wasn't the flu and I'm all better now.
As for the new year, I don't set resolutions. I tend to do more of that on my birthday. Besides the middle of winter just isn't the best time for me to change habits. Last year I went on a diet but I didn't start until April and I successfully lost 14 pounds which was a little better than my goal. So I'm starting this year just hoping to continue having fun and continue setting my weekly goals here every Monday.
In the past 2 weeks, when not sick, I was working on my kits for the Judy's Back to Square One Mystery but I started getting myself organized yesterday to start my week.
I finally got Mom's quilt loaded on Willie and started the SID work. This isn't going to have a lot of fancy quilting but I think SID really makes a lot of difference on a quilt. I'm halfway done with the SID and will do some sort of light filler int he yellow areas next. I'm going to try to get back to my 1 hours a day on the longarm schedule.
Anne gave me this metal quilt for my birthday last year and I've finally decided that I want to hang it in the guest house. I know it's supposed to go outside but Chris isn't fond of the idea of attaching this to the side of the house. I bought a frame and am going to wrap one of my gradients on a board behind it and hang it on the wall instead. I might get this done this week.
I have lots of dyeing and shop work to do this week to so there will be less sewing productivity. I would like to make some birthday postcards so I'll set that as a goal and see how I do.
What are you doing this week? Do you do anything special for New Year's? Check out what everyone else is doing at Patchwork Times.

Happy New Year! I think the metal quilt with your fabric behind it will be fabulous.

I love your metal quilt and would have it attached to my house in a heartbeat. :o) I hope to have one on my new retirement home in a few years. :o)

Oh, that is going to be spectacular, love the idea of the fabric behind the metal.

I passed on buying the metal quilt block for the same reason - didn't want to hang it on the outside of the house. Your idea of fabric and frame is a good one.
Also, I am the same as you concerning resolutions...tend to do that on my birthday.
Continue to have fun and set your weekly goals....I enjoy what you share on your blog.

Your fabric with that metal quilt is going to be perfect - great idea! No resolutions or big celebrations here - just a nice dinner and a sweet treat later for us. Happy New Year, Vicki!

Your mom's quilt is beautiful, can't wait to see it quilted.
We are staying home and relaxing, doubt I will make it to midnight, lol.
I hope you have a wonderful New Year and many blessings in the coming year.
