There aren't a lot of new quilting and fiber art books on the market that I think are exceptional. I think a lot of them are just books that are quickly put together to take advantage of someones new "celebrity" status or to quickly get in on a current movement.
I'm very happy to tell you about one that is an exception. The Complete Photo Guide to Felting by Ruth Lane is exactly what it says it is.....COMPLETE.
If you are interested in any aspect of felting you will find this book to be a great resource.
The book is 231 pages with over 800 photos. So that will tell you how well illustrated the book is.
Here's a page from the needle felting section to show you the clear illustrations.
The book covers wet felting, nuno felting and needle felting.
If you need a copy for your library, you can order a signed copy from Ruth here.
Ruth also sent me a copy to give to one of my lucky readers. To enter just leave a comment on this post and I will draw a winner on Wednesday, November 7.

Have seen amazing felt creations on the web and would love to learn how to make some myself. Thanks for the chance to add this book to my library.

How timely! I am working on a pair of clogs that will need to be felted. I have a top loading washer. Does she give info on using a top loader, or felting knitted items by hand? A felting teacher in one LYS said you can't really do it by hand.........what did they do before washing machines??

I've been playing with felting for a while, but not really in depth. This sounds like a resource I will need to have, one way or another!!!

How timely. I have decided to work up some old wool blazers, but I definitely need a beginner's how-to. Thank you for the book report --whether I win it or not. And thank you for generously offering it.

I attended a felting workshop some time ago and ever since I have been buying small packets of wool rovings because I cannot resist them. They come in such beautiful colours. If I win this book I undertake to actually start using my stash!
Best

Guess what I've had for 4 years and never used?? A needle felting machine--this may be the nudge needed...or not!

Your grandmother's choice blocks are very beautiful. How nice that you are spending so much time with family! I'm wondering if you learned to quilt from your mom or the other way around. Please enter me in the Felt Book drawing! I've been felting for a couple of years now, but don't get the opportunity much as I have to take over the dining table when I do!

Oh my gosh! I want to learn felting...I have been collecting old wool sweaters and wool for years. I know it is not that hard I am just scared to take the plunge...pardon the pun.
I would love to win this fantastic book! Thanks so much for the chance. Also, your fabrics are so gorgeous.
Hugs,
Mary
