When this block was revealed I was not looking forward to making it. This technique doesn't ususally lend itself well to large pieces. I was pleasantly surprised to find 3 fabrics that went together relatively easily.
Here's the draft of the block and the 3 templates that I used. I'll share these each week so you can see how I make the registration markings to line up the fabric.

It amazes me when I see these kaleidoscope blocks that they never seem to show the lines were the fabric was sewn together. They look like I am seeing it in a lens of a kaleidoscope!

Stunning block .... and though I have never made this sort of block, from what I have seen simple blocks are great for using fabrics like this.

Oh.my.gosh! That block is stunning Vicki. I would never have suspected it was the same block as Grandmother's choice 2. You are really pushing us to expand our way of thinking about color and pattern. Thanks for sharing this. I'll have to look through the stash and give it a try.
