I never get tired of doing sun printing. We had a beautiful sunny day at the river Saturday so Anne and I decided to get out the paints. Two weeks before we had collected and pressed a lot of leaves. Here are some of the prints that I did.
I always start with some postcard sized pieces to just test my process and the effectiveness of the sun on that day. With this round I also layered some textures and I really like the effect.
Buttons are always fun to print too.
This s a very large print. It's about 30" tall. It didn't work perfectly because it was a bit windy and the wind kept lifting the fronds. But it's still nice.
Then I decided to get fancy and try to make some arrangements.
I like this one a lot.
These were my favorite prints of the day. These fronds are very feathery and the dark paint really helps show off the detail.
Here's a detail.
Love.

Beautiful! And some good layouts too!

They are gorgeous and I'm sure it was a lot of fun making them too! How will you use them?

They are really cool and I like the one that you like, too. I forgot to tell you I hit a napkin bonanza at the estate sale on Saturday. I went back Sunday to see if something I wasnted was still there and found some of the stragglers of the sets. :O)

These are great, love the one with buttons. I've never tried this technique before, though mind you we are having the wettest summer over here so not much sun around :)

Lots of beautiful sun printed fabrics to add to your stash Vicki! It's hard to resist a sun dyed botanical, and they are always so fun to stitch on. You have got me in the mood...
Have a great summer,

Nice ferns! Isn't that so much fun? I was also inspired to do some sun printing last week: http://quiltingafterdark.blogspot.com/2012/08/painting-in-sun.html
Next time I'm going to try buttons-- that's a cool effect. I don't know if you have any kids around, but K'Nex make great prints too.
