Where did last week go? I know I was busy and I know that I did a lot of things but if I look back on last week's goals it doesn't look so hot.
- I need to catch up on my Blogger's BOM - did nothing!
- Make my patriotic placemats before Wednesday - finished 2 just in the nick of time
- Get the label sewn onto the Coming Home quilt - done and delivered!
- Work on the current quilt on Willie - not 1 stitch!
Instead I made a LOT of jam (17 jars of cherry and 12 of blackberry), I dyed a boat load of fabric and I did a lot of gardening. With the heat (and I'm not complaining about the heat, I don't mind it at all), the garden has required a lot of water.
We will start eating corn this week. I'm so glad we planted some because most of the corn around here is suffering from the drought and there will not be much local corn available this year.
I am impatiently waiting for this big pepper to turn orange because I can't eat them when they are green.
I had intended to plant a red bell pepper but instead I planted hot red peppers. I think they will be yummy in my bean salads.
After a break for about 5 days the squash plant is working overtime. I'm so glad because my other yellow squash plant died. Of course the 3 zucchini plants are producing like crazy but I can't eat those!
I'ave also been eating lots of potatoes and carrots. We had friends for dinner last night as we served potatoes, carrots and zucchini that was fresh from the garden. It was yummy with the big juicy grilled steaks.
Today, however, I am back to sewing. So while I don't have much to show you today I will later in the week. Meanwhile, go see what everyone else is doing at Judy's blog.

Great looking garden!

The joys of ones own garden is such a wonderful feeling. Your corn is BEAUTIFUL - We planted corn the first year we had a garden here and JUST as we were ready to pick it. . .well, let's just say racoons need to eat too! Hope you have a scarecrow out there to keep them away.

Wow....your corn and peppers look so good! You must have a very green thumb. Sounds like you had a wonderful and fun week.

Your vegetables look delicious Vicki. I do miss having my own vegies to pick. Homegrown corn is to die for. I know the perils of trying to do this in summer heat. Hope the worst of it is behind you. Cheers.
