It's time to play with the Patriot fabric palette again. Today I'm using one of my favorite blocks.
Clay's Choice
Since I can barely get one project made during the 2 month run of the fabric palette, I decided that I will try to make the featured block in the fabric so this sample block is made with the fabrics from the Patriot palette. I know I won't get this done every week but I will try! Maybe at the end I will have enough blocks to do a sampler quilt....or some placemats. :)
Here are a few designs using Clay's Choice.
This first design uses the patterned fabrics for borders and alternates the Clay's Choice block with another block that I modified for this design.
Then I wanted to do some in the "modern" style, without borders.
And with an alternating pinwheel block in the center.
Finally, something really fun with a second block that includes a smaller Clay's Choice block.

I saw an antique quilt recently at a vendor booth with that very block. No pics allowed so I sketched it out wanting to recreate it. Couldn't understand my sketch days later so agnozied over sketching it out on my own. Finally figure it out. Oh goodness...why didn't I look in a block book! Clay's Choice...thank you. Certainly a wonderful block for a patriotic quilt.

I'm very drawn to your last two designs. Question - is part of the definition of 'modern' no borders? If so, I didn't know that!

I love these! They would be perfect for QOV or veterans' quilts.

I LOVE your last two designs. Any chance you would share the "patterns" for them. (I don't have EQ, but wouldn't need detailed directions either.) They'd make such great quilts of valor.
