I am just barely keeping up with Christmas preparations so the blog is being ignored a bit. Hopefully I will get all of my postcards finished today and ready to mail tomorrow. At least some of them would arrive before Christmas! After that I believe I am done with everything so next I will work on some of my own projects. I was thinking that I might like to make some placemats from my Coming Home palette so I sketched up a few in EQ.
If you are interested in the Coming Home fabric, you can get the details here.
Here's a simple Christmas design using the EQ Poinsettia block. I doubt I will make these since I'm kind of over Christmas projects at the moment but I do like it.
This one uses the same layout and I like the blend of a traditional spools block with the traditional feel of the fabrics. This would be a nice winter placemat.
Here's another with a homey feel. I like the applique star (machine applique, of course) and the side border pieced from scraps. If I made these I would not use the hearts at the bottom of the star and I'd point the star up.
This is what I am likely to do with my leftovers. On the right side I could screen print or stamp an image instead of doing the piecing. I always like the look of scrappy peicing!
Then I came up with a pine forest look and I love it! But that's a lot of piecing for a placemat.
This, on the other hand might be just about right.
I hope I have time later this week to make some of these up!

Hi Vicki - I like the last placemat design with the graduated trees the best. It's a very interesting design that is so very pleasing to the eyes.

My mom always told me she didn't have a favorite child. But it seemed that some days she did, then again some days she didn't. Today I must admit to having a favorite - it's your very last tree placemat. But then again that traditional spool block is really trying to play favorites with me too!
