Dyeing to Stitch Blog Tour!

It's Black Friday! Time to start your Holiday shopping and I have the best gift for your fiber friends! Of course you have to buy a gift for yourself so you probably need 2 of these.

My dyeing friend, Candy Glendening, partnering with Interweave Press, has produced a wonderful DVD  for anyone wanting to get into fabric dyeing.

New fabrics in the shop!

Every cloud has a silver lining and the silver lining with my knee problem is that I have had to sit a lot the last few days. Of course, that means sitting with the laptop. I made that time productive by getting a lot of new fabrics in the shop! I am totally caught up for at least a week.

Design Wall Monday

Absolutely nothing has happened in my sewing room for 3 days now. I messed up my right knee exercising and it prefers not to be bent. So no sewing. I don't think it's a big deal. It just needs some ice and rest for a few days. 

Instead I watched a lot of football (yay Hokies and Eagles) and did some applique. I have 2 more blocks done and still no plan for my funky flower blocks. I have 4 or 5 left to do before I must come up with a plan.

We are heading to the river for the holiday weekend. I will probably take my sewing machine and hope to be able to work on some Christmas gifts. It seems that it's about time I started them!

But today I am ironing 25 yards of fabric so I best get busy!

Coming Home Fabric Palette Projects

When I created this fabric palette I was thinking a lot of quilts for men. I love the muted tones and they are the exact colors that my husband loves. With that, let's start out with a couple of designs that would be good for a snuggle quilt for one of the men in your life. I specifically wanted very simple designs. Both designs today are made without sashing or borders.

The block for this first one is called Woven Knot in EQ7. I did a version with a dark background and one with a light background. I like both of them!

This next design is made with 2 simple blocks. One is called The Diversion Quilt and the other is Economy Patch. I had a lot of fun with this one. I played around with rotating the Diversion block and then had trouble making myself stop playing with color placement. The last one would be a great QOV pattern.

You can see the difference that rotating the Diversion block makes in these 2 blue versions.
