It's Black Friday! Time to start your Holiday shopping and I have the best gift for your fiber friends! Of course you have to buy a gift for yourself so you probably need 2 of these.
My dyeing friend, Candy Glendening, partnering with Interweave Press, has produced a wonderful DVD for anyone wanting to get into fabric dyeing.
If you haven't seen Candy's beautiful fiber art, you have really been missing out. Look at that beautiful color! This DVD walks you through her process for greating beautiful hand dyed fabrics.
She covers her mottled solids and wonderful textured fabrics. The DVD even includes her recipes for this palette.
It doesn't stop there. She also demonstrates how she makes her signature art pieces. After you watch this DVD you will be able to stitch and dye just like Candy!
Candy, like me, takes a scientific approach to her dyeing and she will teach you her process for getting predictable color results. It's not boring science either. Her enthusiasm and great attitude draw you in from the first scene.
Now for the exciting part. You might not even have to buy this gift for yourself! Candy and Interweave have given me a copy to give to one of my readers.
Leave a comment on this post by November 30. I will draw a winner on December 1. In your comment tell me why you like hand dyed fabric.
Visit Candy and buy the DVD here. You can also purchase it here from Interweave Press.

What's not to love about hand dyed fabrics!! The bright colors and the textures...the possibilities are endless. I have been dyeing fabric for two years and still have so much to learn. There is always something new to try! Thanks for the chance to win Candy's DVD.

Oh my gosh -- those colors are to "die" for. :) I've never dyed fabric before but would love to learn if I'm the lucky winner. Thank you for the opportunity.

Hand dyed fabric is gorgeous. It makes all your quilts look way more "natura" than comercial fabric, plus when you DIY, you feel so empowered!

I love hand dyed fabric because each piece is unique. You can see the hand of the maker. Hand dyed fabric gives quilts greater color depth. You're not bound by what some corporation says is the "it" color this season. Hand dyeing combines chemistry with art. If you think you can exercise your OCD matching points, just try replicating colors through hand dyeing. Hand dyed fabric allows broad exercises in color theory that manufacturers' color ranges can't.

I like hand-dyed fabric because each piece is one-of-a-kind. I want to dye my own fabric so I can get exactly the colors I want.

The possibilities are endless when it comes to dyeing your own fabrics, that's my favorite part of dyeing.
