I believe that most of you are familiar with the Quilts of Valor program and most of you are familiar with the work that Alycia does for Quilts of Valor. A large number of our wounded service members are sent to Warriors in Transition Battalion at Fort Carson Mountain Post in Colorado. It houses 775 wounded soldiers and there are always soldiers in transition. Alycia supports this unit and she is OUT OF QUILTS!!
Please go to Alycia's site and learn about the program and consider making a quilt.
-
Minimum size of 55 x 65, Maximum size of 72 x 90
-
made of 100% Cotton materials ( flannel is perfectly fine -especially here in colorado)
-
Long arm or machine quilted, not tied
-
Has a pillowcase/presentation case ( now I have you covered here - the Pueblo West Quilters are awesome pillowcase makers and have sent me great ones)
- Washed in cold water, no detergents or smelly *things*
Here's a pattern that Alycia designed for 3 Creative Studios this summer and Mary Johnson has lots of fast and easy patterns in her website.
If you do make and send a quilt please go over to Judy's blog and let her know because she has some great incentives for those of you who send quilts to Alycia! You could even win fabric to replace the fabric that you use!
Please consider making a quilt for this worthy program. I've got one cut out and will work on it at the retreat with my local Guild Chapter next weekend. My goal is to get it ready to ship by December 1.
