Continuing my habit of making my journal quilt relevant to whatever is going on in my sewing room (or in my life), this one was inspired bu the video I published a few days ago. It was also inspired by the great journal quilts that tommyandjimmy is making. She has created a wonderful collection of pictoral quilts and I've been wanting to give that a try ever since I saw the ones she has been creating.
I don't think I have ever made a pictoral quilt so it seemed relative safe to do it in this small format. If it turned to crap I could always do something else. It wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be. I might even try another in the future. It's all fusible applique with some straight line and free-motion stitching.
Speaking of inspiration, I wrote about another journal quilt inspiration on the 3 Creative Studios Blog today.
I have a fun day planned for tomorrow. Estelle and I are going to the Virgina Quilt Museum to be volunteer docents. It's been a couple of years since I visited the museum and I always enjoy it. I expect this to be an especially fun visit since the exhibit is kaleidoscope quilts!
