Last week I shared the results of Vicki and Estelle's Image Transfer Adventures. One of the products that we used was Transfer Artist Paper (TAP). I transferred one image to a t-shirt to see how it would hold up in the wash.
(On the left, before washing. On the right, after washing.)
It didn't work out so well, but before you take that as failure, let me explain. Here are the instructions for washing:
Allow transfer to dry for 2-3 days. Place in mesh bag and wash on delicate cycle in cold water or hand wash. If image on on a garment, turn inside-out before washing.
I did the first part but I washed it the way that I normally wash clothes. I know that I will not treat a garment differently just because I printed something on it. So this was washed right side out in hot water. That doesn't mean that the product doesn't work. It just means that it will not work for me because I wash all of my clothes in hot water, right side out. As soon as I buy or make something that needs special treatment, it never gets worn because it never gets washed the first time!
But it will work great for me for products that will nto be washed....like postcards.
So there you have it. The end on my image transfer play time for now. I'll stick to Bubble Jet Set for the near future.
