I participated/hosted two postcard swaps this month and for some insane reason I set the mail dates for both of them ON THE SAME DAY!
The first one was for the MQResource "key" challenge. I really struggled with that theme for some reason. I finally decided that I wanted to try to find a quote about making art that used the word "key". This is one of those times when I absolutely love the internet. I found this quote attributed to Pablo Picasso
“Action is the foundational key to all success.”
But I also found all of these, also attributed to Picasso:
“Art is the elimination of the unnecessary”
“Everything you can imagine is real.”
“If only we could pull out our brain and use only our eyes.”
“Every act of creation is first of all an act of destruction.”
“The chief enemy of creativity is "good" sense.”
So, I decided to make a card with a different quote for each recipient. Here's the card:
This card is also part of the new Technique of the Month that we will post next week at Three Creative Studios.
The next card is for the Three Creative Studios Game Day Challenge. This happens to me a lot. I have a plan in mind and the morning I get up to make them the whole plan changes. I had several other ideas but during my morning shower I decided that I wanted to mail a game. What better game than one of the oldest games in game history - Tic Tac Toe! I learned that Tic Tac Toe was played in early Roman times so I decided to make my game look ancient too.
It was a pretty simple concept except that I also needed to include game pieces. I don't mail my cards in cello envelopes so it has to be able to go through the mail naked. I created the card with a flap pocket.
Terri had sent me some samples of Roc-lon® Multi-Purpose Cloth™. I painted a small piece and cut some ancient looking game pieces. The cards went int he mail Tuesday so hopefully everything arrives intact.
