And I do not mean shopping for food or other boring things. I mean how do you shop for fabric and the fun stuff?
I seem to buy in spurts. I will not buy anything for weeks or months and then in one week I am buying like there's no tomorrow!
That was this week.
It all started because Mom was here for 3 days. We were busy with other things and didn't have any sewing time for 2 days. On the first day, after we were done with our appointments, we stopped at Quilting Adventures and I found this brown dotted fabric to use in the border of my brown/tan Snail's Trail quilt. Mom was looking for fabric to make a quilt for one of her Grandsons but didn't find what she wanted there.
We didn't get to do anything the 2nd day but on the 3rd day her other Grandson stopped by on his way back to college. We took him to buy supplies at Costco and then decided to try another fabric store.
We went to Quilter's Corner in Midlothian. I don't know why I don't go there very often. It's really not far. I may not let myself every go again either! I didn't need one piece of fabric when I walked in that store. How is it that I left with 2 FQ bundles and 6 yards of sale fabric? The only good news for me is that Mom spent twice as much as I did!
Except that the next day......
the stuff that I ordered from Dharma Trading arrived! I needed new paints and I wanted more Pearl Ex colors. I couldn't make up my mind which ones I wanted so I bought ALL OF THEM.
Oh why not, get a screen printing kit too!
I wonder if I have anything else on order that I don't remember?
I do need to get more lino carving blocks.

I go in spurts also. I have been on a big spurt lately and have lots of luscious new fabrics to work with. Is that brown you bought for your Snail's Trail quilt the Mixmasters Fizz brown? If so, I LOVE that group.

Wow, You are out of control...oh your post reminds me I need to order some speed ball paints too.

Definitely spurts for me too. If I'm not sewing, I make up for it by buying more sewing stuff. That's one reason I decided to focus on some smaller quilting projects for a while - to use up some stash instead of buying more garment fabrics. Except it backfired because, while I am making some quilting projects, I've also been buying quilting fabric. Uh oh.

I want those paints. They'd probably dry up in my hot studio before I ever got around to using them, but who cares--I want 'em.

Looks like you aren't going to run out of things to do. That spurt thing happens to me too.

I do spurts too...but my spurts seem to be pretty close together :)
Can't go wrong with the pearl ex and Lumiere! I use TONS of both of those! I just love Dharma!
The fabrics are cool too. Looks like a good few days!

Definintely spurts. There is no assigned money that gets spent monthly, as in a budget. Sales catch my eye especially for backings and fill in colors.

How do I shop? Well, there are two Goodwill stores by my office and I hit one or both of them sometimes twice a week for about 30 minutes each. Every day is a new day there. There are several other Goodwills that I hit less often, but sometimes in a week I will be in 6-7 Goodwill stores. I also hit an estate sale or two or three on the weekends. As to fabric and craft shops, I hit them as I need supplies. I realized the other day I need nothing so I am trying to curtail retail buying. There is so much at the thrifts that I may never need retail again!

I usually hit them when I need a specific fabric for a project.
Of course I always see new things I have to have, so walk out with a bag of goodies;)

I tend to do online shopping these days unless I'm at Mom's or a HeartStrings sew-in which always seems to involve a trip to a quilt shop.
I'm waiting for a batting and thread order and the new Kindle to arrive here.

I have a craft supply addiction. I honestly need a 12 step program. Maybe more like a 20 step program. LOL!!!
Honestly, I'm always on the look out for crazy quilt and art quilt supplies. My husband and I go to Flea Markets every weekend and I stop in the junk store on Thursdays after I pick up groceries. Then there's WalMart and Michael's and Hobby Lobby and JoAnn Fabrics! I tend to shop in the craft stores more in the Winter months since I find my fun vintage things over the Summer months.
Honestly, I don't think a week goes by that I don't add a least a little something to my stash.

I go in spurts. I shop mostly online, and right now I'm trying to resist buying Shiva paintsticks. Do I REALLY need them? I don't know, but they look like fun.

I'm with you on the boring stuff. And I'm spurting along as well. It is like I store up stuff and then settle down and use it. I REALLY like the brown dotted snails.
