The theme for the current MQResource postcard swap is "Fan". It was originally introduced as a result of the heat here in the states this summer. I decided to take it in a different direction and show that I am a fan of books.
I don't have progress photos but I'll describe how I made these.
First I gathered book images for my favorite books (I keep a list of all of the books I "read" (listen to) in a spreadsheet with a rating and some review of my opinion of the book. The books I used on these cards were all rated 9 or 10 on my list. I copied the images to a document and printed them on fabric. I added fusible to the fabric and cut every single little book out! I arranged the books on a large piece of fabric that was fused to Timtex. Then I cut the sheet into postcard sizes.
Next I cut a book image from a lino carving block and stamped one on each card. Finally I stitched around the print using gold metallic thread.
I love this Thomas Jefferson quote and I added one of my own. This is the first time in a long time that I have gotten my swap cards done early!

Well, we can tell you've retired. *S* All those little details take TIME - but it's worth it, if you have it.
Those cards are just great.

I'm right there along with you when it comes to books. I love them and I have altogether too many in my collection!! There is no possible way I could ever work in a bookstore because my entire pay would be spent before I knew it. Thank goodness for the local library - but I'm a greedy guss there too!!
