Yesterday I showed you my big jar of fabrics. I only had 9 photos of the layers but I really did have 10 fabrics so I missed a photo of one of the layers. Today I got all 45 yards washed and ironed but today I only have the 10 fro the parfait ready to share.
This photo shows them almost in the order they were layered I the jar with the bottom fabric on the left and the top fabric on the right. I have a couple of the middle ones in the wrong order but you get the idea. As I was dyeing each layer I paid close attention to the previous layer. I tried to alternate light and dark values and I tried not to put complimentary colors on adjacent layers. I do use complimentary colors a lot in my dyeing because I often want brown but in this one I knew that I was going to get some complex colors with so many layers so I tried to keep the individual layers from being a complimentary color to the next layer (no purple next to yellow, red next to green or blue next to orange).I am certain that I have layers 5 - 8 out of order but I got tired of trying to figure them out. Regardless, I am very happy with all 10 fabrics!
Layer 1 - Bright yellow, fabric is pleated and twisted
Layer 2 - pinkish red, pleated in the middle, scrunched on the sides
Layer 3 - bright blue, scrunched
Layer 4 - lime green, spiral pleated
Layer 6 - pleated and rolled, red
Layer 7 - spiral pleated, gold
Layer 9 - diagonal pleat, black
Layer 10 - pleated in the middle, scrunched on the sides, red

My fabrics were 1 yard lengths and I put them in the container dry. I poured on 1 cup of dye and then 1 cup of soda solution.

Vicki,
They are really awesome each and every one. I think I might have to change my choice for the giveaway, though!

Vicki - these are stupendous! I haven't done parfait dyeing for years, it's obviously time for me to do some again. You aren't using commercial mixes are you? (i.e. when you say "lime green" you're mixing a green that's mostly yellow with some turquoise added) I think it be fun to try to do the same layers as you and see what happened...! THis summer, this summer...

I see now I am color blind LOL. They are so lovely and yes, they are more blue than green as I previuosly thought (happens when you read posts in reverse order LOL)
ps you are a dye-ing genius!
