your first purchases at a quilt show are replacement electrodes for your EMS machine and new lights for your sewing machines! I haven't yet bought 1 piece of fabric, spool of thread, pot of paint or even a tiny bead. Only old lady things. Oh well, at least these items will get used! The lights are the Bendable Bright Lights that people have been raving about lately. I bought enough for every sewing machine and one for Willie too.
Today was the last day of the Paula Nadelstern class. It was an awesome class and she is a very generous, attentive and energetic teacher. I'd recommend her to anyone. I wouldn't, however, recommend the kaleidoscope class to everyone. You really have to enjoy fiddly, like I do, to enjoy this class. However, she does have a "lighter" class based on her Puzzle Quilts book and a fun class based on using her fabric to make large beaded ornaments.
I didn't get another block finished today but by going through the process of designing my own original kaleidoscope I may just have retained some of what she taught! I made good progress on mine and plan to finish it when I get home.
I'll have more photos for you tomorrow because Debra and I are going to spend the day just going through the quilt exhibit. I made it through about 8 aisles. There's lots of cool stuff there but the vendors are not happy to have you take photos so I will not be sharing any photos from the vendor area except where I can get permission.
I met another blog reader, Becky M. from Canada, today too! She is at Festival with her friend, Suzanne and we had a great talk over lunch. Becky has celiac disease so she was able to give me some good advice for my new wheat-free diet. I think that meeting my internet friends here has really been the best part of being in Houston this year. I even ran into a blog reader and friend of Marie Z while I was looking at the photography exhibit. Tomorrow I finally get to met Debra.

I watched the Paula Nadelstern show on The Quilt Show today. they had a walk through of her show in NYC. I can see there are a lot of ways to go with the Kaleidoscope process.
Have fun for the rest of your time down there. I haven't been there for 13 years but it seems like yesterday.

Way to go with the light Vicki. I purchased a kit with an extra base , allowing me to change the light between machines.

I saw one of those bendable lights in action and want to get one. I'll have to look for them at our local quilt show at the end of the month.

I am with you on the light thing. I definitely find that as I age, I need more light. So good to hear you are meeting up with more bloggy friends. It was definitely a highlight of market for me to meet people that read my blog too.

OH the bendable lights sound good.
I am way behind on posts and will never catch up with yours, so I missed that you were on a wheat free diet. I'm a celiac and although it is a pain, the difference in my health and state of mind is amazing. You do adapt to the wheat free thing but I still find breads are difficult and mostly awful, although I've found a few tricks for eating a few of them. Cookies are easier.
It sounds like you are having fun. Someday I'll manage to go.

I like the results of your class, though I am not sure I am up for that challenge. The light looks good, especially since I just made a goof on a couple blocks and more light would have helped.
I check in on the Pioneer Women's blog and she started another blog called Tasty Kitchen. I just noticed that they have a gluten free section and there seems to be some good recipes in there. The pumpkin cheescake looks wonderful....Thought you would like to know..

I love the lights -- I bought one for myself and then ordered one for Mom for her birthday last December.

Hmmm...I seem to have missed this but am hoping my Joann's has one of these little charmers. I can always use a little bit more light!
I just read Sue's blog and she referenced this post.
Merry Christmas!
