Of course I don't have any of the symmetrical types of fabrics that she uses in her technique so I needed to go shopping! I stopped by Quilting Adventures after work to get started. Joyce, the owner and my friend, helped me look for every symmetrical fabric in the store. Then Amy got to cut them all for me.I love shopping where I like the people so much!
The cool thing about preparing for this class is that it is forcing me to look at fabrics that I would not normally buy. Take that metallic print on the bottom of the photo. I really dislike it. In fact, I dislike most metallic prints but they work well in this technique. So I picked up a few plus some others that I would not normally buy.
I'm trying not to get to focused on a color scheme. I seem to be picking up a wide variety of reds, blues and greens. After picking up these I came home and ordered another $70 worth from eQuilter. I will look through my fabrics and possibly paint some metallic fabrics to use for the backgrounds. Hopefully I can control myself and not buy anything else until I get to class.
That's not likely though.....
Thank goodness it's the weekend. As soon as I post this I will make my dye list for tomorrow. I'll get to see James and Courtney (and my brother) at lunchtime. Otherwise I am planning to sew the rest of the weekend. I hope you get to do what you want this weekend too!
