Today was a big day! Almost the entire family got together to celebrate Mom's 70th and her oldest sister's 80th birthdays. Mom lives with her middle sister but the oldest sister, Edna, couldn't make it. All of the cousins made it along with all of Mom's grandchildren. It was a lot of fun to see everyone.
Now I can show you what I made Mom for her birthday. Of course it was a set of dyed fabrics!
I started with this photo color palette from Fulvia. I've been holding onto this one for a while planning to make a fabric set from it. These are the kinds of colors that Mom likes so I went with it.
Next I bought her Judy's book, Nine Patch Extravaganza. I selected a few patterns and made enough fabric to make any of the 3 quilts. I suspect that there's enough fabric to make 2 quilts of she wants!
While in the midst of dyeing these fabrics the past 3 weeks, Fanniedid a post about some bags that she bought to embellish. I commented on them and she offered to send me one. What a great coincidence that she sent me a purple one and it ws the perfect size to be the gift bag. I printed Fulvia's photo and a birthday wish on fabric and stitched it to the bag.
I'll have lots of family photos on my Facebook Page tomorrow.
I hope you had a great birthday, Mom! You deserve it!

looks like a happy day! bet she was pleased with her gift.
