There's a bird that we have been seeing at the feeder this week and today we finally got some good photos. this is a Pine Warbler. Pine Warblers don't seem to stay around here but, according to the book, it is one of the first birds to migrate back North. We only see this bird in January and always at the peanut feeder.
We loved this next photo of the Pine Warbler and Wren sharing the feeder.
Here are some other photos of one of many Cardinals, Wren, Blue Jay and a full house of Goldfinches.
All of these photos were taken from inside the house about 15 feet from the feeders. We have dozens of birds every day. Chris has to refill every feeder each morning.

I really miss all the migrating little birds. We have lots of birds here, but they're all big...except cardinals...we have a pair, Calhoun and Marybell...they eat at our feeders; bathe in our birdbath and preen in the side mirrors on our cars...of course crapping all down the doors...lol

looks like you have as many as I do here in Arkansas - the finches go crazy - I sometimes have a dozen of them hanging on each seed bag and I have two of them and a feeder and a suet hanger. Dozens of birds every day here,
Karen

oh I'm so jealous of your colorful birds! right now everything here is pretty much just brown except the robins and bluejays.

From the last picture, no wonder you have to refill every morning:-)
Must be fun to watch though.

Wow Vicki, these are some great shots.
p.s. I'd wash the flannel twice. Odds are that all of the shrinkage will occur in the first washing but if there is any left to happen the second should finish it off.

thats neat, I dont think I'd been able to tell it wasn't a finch. I like the owl. Hope you can get a photo of its wing span. I guess a pic of it scarfing a long tailed rodent would be cool too :)

I enjoy your bird pictures so much. Thanks for the treat.

I particulary like the red cardinal, mainly because the others are similar to birds we have here.
as for washing to flannette - personally i would have washed it once in hot water. probably after it was attached to the back of the quilt. doing it beforehand sounds like a fine idea. And im glad your back is letting you get back to quilts.

I enjoy your bird posts. I feed the birds at our house and we always get excited when we identify a new species at our table! Mary

Great bird photos! In the last pic...the birds with the brownish backs and vividly black and white striped wing tips...what kind are they? I don't recall seeing or pics of that coloration before.

Ooh, goodie, my vicarious bird fix again! I enjoyed your birds last year - will look forward to them again this year. Maybe I should send my state birds cross stitch to you when it's done!
