WIP Confession Time
Judy posted all of her WIPs on her blog today and challenged others to do the same. Egads! I have a few. But in the spirit of openess here goes:
We'll start with the quilts waiting to be quilted. Not photographed is one that is already pinned to zippered leaders and will be quilted when my Mom's is done.
Here are the rest of the quilts waiting for Willie. The three on the left are ones that I purchased from eBay for practice. That was totally unnecessary as Mom and I are keeping enough of a backlog for all of the practice that I need! The front one in the middle is the next stack and Whack that Mom made. The light blue one was made by my guild and I have had it OVER 5 YEARS! I actually quilted it once and hated it so ripped the quilting out to wait for the longarm. I actually think I will be ready to do this one soon. The two in the farthest row are two that I made - the recent Quilt for an Hour and a top I made a couple of years ago for not special purpose. 8 quilts to be quilted - not too awfully bad is it?
Then there's the true WIPs. These are stored on two shelves by the window above my sewing area. First up are random scrap quilts with no specific purpose other than to use my scrap fabrics.
On the left is "confetti". The blocks are made I just need to cut the background (5 yards) and sew it all together. This one is probably almost 10 years old. The next one is the mini log cabin. I think I have about half of them done. I do actually work on this one occasionally. The third one is one I have shown recently. It was inspired by Mary and the Heartstrings quilts. I make the blocks using my used dryer sheets as foundations and work on it after the laundry each week.
Here we have the makings for 3 quilts. A year or so ago I got out the scrap bin and sorted the scraps into 4 color groups and sews blocks until I was sick of them. I planned the layouts in EQ and even bought all of the background fabrics. I finished one of the quilts last summer. Those blue blocks is the back are ones that I coffee dyed earlier this year in my Quilt University tea dyeing class.
So, we are up to 6 WIPs so far.
This is from a Bonnie McCaffery class. I made this when I lived in Virginia Beach so it's over 10 years old. I think it was the first quilt class that I ever took. This is the only UFO that I don't have any plans for and I'm not sure I will ever do anything with.
I LOVE this quilt! It's a postage stamp quilt (1" squares). It's all done except for the border. I stopped working on this when I knew I was getting a longarm. I wanted to wait until I developed some kind of quilting style before I made the border.
Oh, another quilt that I still love! The funny thing about this one is that it's made from leftover pheasant fabric that I used to make quilts for my husband and his pheasant hunting friend. I made the S&W blocks just to see if they would look OK then I found the gradient fabric for the background. This is another one that I stopped at the border for the same reason as the postage stamp quilt.
This is a fun one. I made this from a pattern on QNM shortly after we moved into this house (9 years ago). It's a signature quilt for for visitors. I really like it so I should put the borders on and quilt it up. Hmmm, there's a theme here with "border block"!
That's a total of 10 WIPs.
I don't really have any PIGs except for the miniature quilt that I am planning. I do have a few quilts in process that are samples for classes so I'm not counting any of them. Anyone else got the guts to confess??

I just LOVE that postage stamp quilt ! Hurry up and finish it !They are all really nice - Hard to pick a favorite !

Wow! You have quite a stash of UFOs. What do you do with all your quilts? They look like they must have taken sometime to make!

I did count my tops (23)waiting but I'm not sharing the WIP. I have two I'm actively piecing right now the rest are going to stay hidden away for now!

Oh wow!! I'm totally amazed at how many UFO's you have. You seem to be able to create such beautiful quilts and other things so quickly, and you also have a stash of UFO's - you are amazing!!!

I am not a quilter so I probably don't appreciate them for the right reasons, 'cos I like the Bonnie McCaffery class one best - the colours are really nice.
Now you had better get to work! ;))

Um, where were you hiding all that when I came to visit?!? Yikes! No confessions here - everyone knows what I'm working on.
The postage stamp is my favorite - I think it's the bright mixed colors in contrast to the black - usually you just see millions of little colored blocks with no contrast. The black makes the colors pop!

Wow, that's even more quilting WIPs than I've ever had knitting WIPs. And that's saying something!
I have to confess a love of log cabin quilts. So simple, so variable.

If I posted all of my WIP's you would be reading for hours. Maybe I could do them in batches of different styles. Or maybe I shouldn't embarass myself.

And I thought I was the only one who never got around to the border.

Vicki,
The UFO would make a great wall hanging. Just border it and it is done. Or could be a cover for the back of the couch? Just a couple of thoughts.

Your work is so fine why don't you enter it in some shows? I see some prize winners amongst that group!

I think it might take me a month to get through all my WIP's. Maybe someday I will confess.
