The weekend at the river and a question at the end
One of the cool things about the state of Virginia is that there are so many things to do. There are the mountains, the beaches and the rivers - or as it's called here, "the rivah". The rivah can be any of several rivers including the James, Potomac or the one we visited, the Rappahannock. My friend's house is on the Rappahannock in a town named Lively. It's a tiny little town but one of my favorite signs in Lively is the local drugstore - Lively Drugs. Wouldn't it be cool to be able to get "lively drugs"? We didn't get any lively drugs but we did have a nice view of the river.
We got to watch the Osprey feeding their baby.
I can't go outside much so my view was from inside but Chris got to see eagles flying around and the butterflies and hummingbirds hanging around the Mimosa trees. We ate a lot of great food and had a special meal of blue crabs. Yum!
I took two projects with me to work on. First up is the most recent baby's snails trail quilt. I made 4 more blocks and here's the progress so far. This is a very tedious block to get pieced precisely so 4 blocks is about all I can tolerate in a day! I do like how it's coming together.
The other project was the Quilt For an Hour project. I had hoped to finish it. Those borders are really nice and very effective for the design but they sure did take me a long time to do. I was on the 5th of 7 borders when I realized that I am short on the navy blue fabric! I got the two side borders on but do not have enough to make the top and bottom. I though I might have more fabric at home. Nope, no extra fabric. So I'm trying to deicde what to do. I've had this fabric a couple of years so I am not going to try to get more. I did cut enough to do the final wide navy border. I'm thinking of removing the last two nave side borders and skipping that narrow navy border and the 6th white border. Do you think that would look OK? It's certainly big enough.
Both my husband and my friend really love this quilt design. It's a winner Judy!

I'd just skip the border you're short on, and continue along.... I love the snails trail in the nice bright colours you're doing, but can understand why the planning is draining....

Oh - the lake looks just beautiful! Don't you wish there was a way for us allergy suffers to go outside more? I don't mind being clean, but I take soooo many showers just to get pollen out of my hair.
I think the quilt still look very pretty minus a border or two. Sorry about your not having enough fabric! Bummer.

The quilt looks really nice. I like the little dark diagonal squares as opposed to the stark white diagonals. As for the borders, I think it would look very nice with just the wide navy border--skipping the narrow navy and narrow white.
Your scenery pix are beautiful. What a lovely backdrop for quilting!

Lovely! I think the Quilt For an Hour will still look good without one or two borders; I really like the colorway on this one!

Lively drugs! You are just too funny.

Yep, I'd take off the 2 lonely navy borders and just do the last wide navy one. It's turning out beautifully!

I think it would look great - take off the two side ones and add the final blue. I love how this looks and I really need to get back to work on mine. I'll at least work on some of the 4 patches tonight!

That is some rivah!
Your quilts are looking lively, no need for the lively drugs.... ;-)
