I haven't posed anythng meaningful in about a week. It's been a weird week or so. First I had a little health issue that turned out to be nothing big and will only require a litle outpatient surgery in a few weeks. I just let the whole thing distract me too much. Then my nephew and his girlfriend visited for the weekend - we really enjoyed their company and I think I earned a few brownie points with Mom for bringing him to visit her on her birthday Sunday. And on Saturday I taught a class at the LQS. It was based on the snails trail block that I've been so infatuated with this year! The class was great and I even had time to make 4 more blocks in a baby snails trail that I am using for the class sample.
Do you find that after an extended time away from sewing that you have some trouble deciding what to focus on first? I sure do. So I decided that tonight I would do some of my scrappy Chinese Coin blocks as a warm up.
Well, I spent most of the morning ripping but I finally got on the right track. I started with the thread that Summerset gave me. I love it but I jsut could not handle the dark purple thread that I needed to use on the backing. So I ripped that out and switched to an Amethyst metallic and I'm able to use a taupe Bottom Line in the bobbin. Here's a preview of how the blocks will look. Get used to it - I suspect this quilt will be WIP Wednesday for a few weeks! LOL!
I love my Wille. The only thing I do not like about it are the Hartley products that came with it - the fence, micro-drive and extended base. I find them all clunky and awkward to use. I've totally given up on the micro-drive and the fence but I do need the base because I like ruler work. I know there is a better base on the market but there is only one supplier and, so far, the base hasn't been in stock any time that I have called.
