I haven't posed anythng meaningful in about a week. It's been a weird week or so. First I had a little health issue that turned out to be nothing big and will only require a litle outpatient surgery in a few weeks. I just let the whole thing distract me too much. Then my nephew and his girlfriend visited for the weekend - we really enjoyed their company and I think I earned a few brownie points with Mom for bringing him to visit her on her birthday Sunday. And on Saturday I taught a class at the LQS. It was based on the snails trail block that I've been so infatuated with this year! The class was great and I even had time to make 4 more blocks in a baby snails trail that I am using for the class sample.
Do you find that after an extended time away from sewing that you have some trouble deciding what to focus on first? I sure do. So I decided that tonight I would do some of my scrappy Chinese Coin blocks as a warm up.
These blocks started because I had a lot of strips left over from the recent Friendship Star QOV. I think I saw the idea of using used dryer sheets as foundations on either the Heartstrings Blog or on Mary's Blog. She has several patterns for Chinese Coin quilts on her web site. So I started saving the used dryer sheets from the laundry and I piece some of these each week after I do the laundry. So that was my first sewing task tonight - to catch up and make 8 more foundations. I sew the strips to the foundations and cut mine down to 6 x 8 1/2". I have about 35 done so far.
I don't have any urgent need to get these done. It's simply a nice project to have when I need a little sewing therapy. Now it goes back on the shelf until the next laundry day!
I did make a little progress on the Quilt For An Hour project. I have 3 of 7 rows completed. I think I'll get back to this after dinner. I saw the one my Mom is making this weekend. She's much further along and hers is really pretty in green and tan with hand dyed fabrics where I have red.
This photo also shows some of the coin blocks pinned on the design wall.
I know, I wasn't going to post the QFAH in process but I needed to post SOMETHING!

I like the fabric choice you made for the QFAH quilt. That is going to be a great looking quilt!

I know what you mean about not knowing what to focus on first. That's why I always have some kind of no brainer project started that I can just jump into until I make a decision. I love your colorful design wall.

I hope your health is better and better!
Beautiful blocks, by the way, and I love your QFAH. I've been following it on Judy's blog this round, and love your colour choices.

How did I miss the QFAH blocks the first time I saw this post - love the colors. I intend to do this quilt too but haven't found time to start it yet.

I really like your red white and black quilt. It's fun to see the different color combos everyone is choosing.
I, too, have a tough time deciding what to focus on. Unless there is guilt involved in completing a project with a deadline, I go with what speaks to me.... as a result I have way too many WIPs. =P
