Mixed Media Class - Lesson 1 pages
I started the Joggles Mixed Media class this week. It is being taught by Sue Bleiweiss. In the first lesson we are making three different papers and two projects. I don't have my projects done yet but I did finish the papers. These are great fun to make. I did have one little problem - I'm allergic to one of the products. I think it's the gel medium but might be the paints. Going forward I'll be wearing gloves! Here are the first papers:
This first one is two sheets of tissue paper fused to a foundation. I used two sheets of white and then painted it with a mixture of orange and yellow Dye-Na-Flo and some gold Luminere. After it dried I rubbed on some Tusineko ink in brown.
Here's a close up (the color is more accurate in the first photo).
The second one is pattern tissue paper fused to a foundation. I used a pattern that was printed in gray on white. The only thing I added is a spray of Cranberry Radiant Rain.
And a close up
The final sheet is made from torn dictionary pages fused to a background. This is where I used the gel medium and when my allergy problem started. The paper is topped with cheesecloth and painted with a very watered down Turquoise Dye-na-Flo. I then sprayed it with Blue Radiant Rain. I don't think the RR added anything. After it dried I added loads of threads under white tulle.
And a close up
Next I will work on at least one of the projects. the second project is a book with one of the papers added to a base of felt. I ordered felt last night. I had to get the cheap craft felt because I'm allergic to wool! LOL! This is so much fun.

That golden fabric/paper is lovely - such a great color!

These are all terrific Vicki but my favorite is that first one :)

I love the 1st one as well, very autumnal. I can sympathise with your allergies, I can't use some washing powders and I've given up using mascara because it makes my eyes itch like mad.

How fun. I love the first one, too...

The golden glow on the first paper is a lovely effect. I'm glad you took the close up shot so we could appreciate it.

I really love the warm suede colour of your first sample... and what brand of pattern had that great two colour tissue in it? It's really wonderful how that one came out!
