I'm watching the PBS series Craft in America tonight while working on my two sets of postcards. I've finished the "earth" card. I wish I had taken photos of the steps but I'll do my best to describe what I did...
I used several pieces of my sheets of fused scraps. I made 7 cards so I cut 2 pieces of a hand-dyed fabric and 5 pieces of the fused sheets. Each piece was 4"x6" and I cut the ones from the fused sheets on odd angles (3 from the green sheet and 2 from the black sheet. There was quite a bit of white showing on the pieces so I pulled out the Dye-Na-Flow and over painted the fused sheets with a purple color. I wish I had made the paint mix darker but it did tone everything down some. Next I stacked all 7 pieces and slashed through the entire stack 6 times to make 7 pieces. Then I re-sorted the stacks so that each PC has a bit of every one of the original 7 pieces. Finally I arranged 7 pieces in each of 7 pre-cut pieces of Timtex. After everything was fused I used foil and foil glue to add the veins of bronze. I''m not very happy with the veins and I wish I had gotten Terri's advice to use fusible web instead. I'll sure do that the next time! The card is meant to depict roots as breaking through the ground. Not one of my best attempts but I sure do love those strip sheets!
On another topic - since starting the blog I have become very dependent on my camera and tripod so I was excited to read in someone's blog about the Gorillapod. Imagine this thing with a camera mounted on the end.
Maybe this has been around for a while but I've not seen one. It is very cool!. The 3 legs can stand on a table like a tripod, but the best feature is that the legs can wrap around anything! I bought mine from this eBay seller and was very please with the quick service. Isn't this a cool new tool? (If you are the person who posted about the Gorillapod last week, let me know so I can give you proper credit!)
Now for the WIP - in process now are the postcards for my Stitcher's Guild swap. The theme is "from the sewing room". I mentioned above that I use the Dye-Na-Flo paints on the earth cards. Since I had the paint out I started playing around and that got me on a path for this next set of cards....

I saw it on the same blog, and now I can't remember if it was Deb R. or if was somebody else.
It looks really cool, and it seems pretty reasonable. I think I might have to get one, too....thanks for the review!

My daughter showed that Gorilla pod on her blog a while ago, & I thought it looked like a great tool. I want one too!
